81 Yuyuan Road
Starting point. The former Liu Jisheng Apartments, built 1929 — three-storey neoclassical. A florist now occupies the ground floor; the marble entrance tiles are original Republican-era stone.
Lane 749 · Yongquan Fang
Designed in 1934 by Chinese architect Hsi Fu-chuan — Art Deco façade meets Chinese pitched roof. Nine units inside the lane, each with distinct exterior ornament.
Lane 1032 · Qishan Village
Former residence of rocket scientist Qian Xuesen. Built 1925–1928 as English-style mock four-storey terraces. The cement archway at the lane entrance still bears the carved name '岐山邨'.
Lane 1136 · Wang Boqun House
Built 1934 — a castle-like Gothic villa, said to be Wang Boqun's wedding gift to Bao Zhining. Now the Changning District Children's Palace; open to visitors on weekends.
Lane 1352 · Hongye Garden
An English-style 1930s garden lane — the original camphor trees still stand in each household's plot. The lane's far end opens onto Dingxi Road, near the finish.
Zhongshan Park West Gate
Endpoint. The former Jessfield Park, funded by British merchants in 1914. Just inside the west gate, turn left for the great plane tree — 105 years old, with a heritage plaque.
